Fragile

Fragile

So tiny
I almost step on you
But your stark contrast
White against green and dark
Caught my eyes
You glared at me
Even in your fragility
I stooped to look at you
You swayed in the wind
Still glaring
I smiled
And i could’ve sworn
I saw a hint of a smile
A “Thank-you-for-not-stepping-on-me” smile
I mouthed wordlessly
“You’re welcome, precious:
I left the little wild flower
swaying and singing in the wind
